The Thermite, built by Howe & Howe Technologies, is the first firefighting robot that any ladder company can buy. It travels on treads, fits through most doors and can douse fires with 600 gallons of water per minute.
But all this automated firefighting goodness doesn’t come cheap — the Thermite costs $98,000. However, that’s still a lot less than other firefighting equipment. The trucks that fire departments use typically range from $100,000 to more than $1 million.
